Harry Symons: “Cricket, Corrosion and Cafeterias – Continuing Confounding Conundrums”

Photos and words by Ashley King

We were super lucky to have stumbled upon “Cricket, Corrosion and Cafeterias – Continuing Confounding Conundrums”by Kingston artist Harry Symons at Modern Fuel before it’s closing on Saturday, April 16th in their State of Flux gallery. A growing installation featuring hundreds of paintings varying in size and subject matter, sprawled on the walls like vines.

Looking from painting to painting, you try to connect each one with the next. Build a theme around each wall or even section of a wall. Fragments of reoccurring images exploring different thoughts can be connected after a visual investigation. Pleasant colours to get wrapped up in and before you know it you’ve been lingering for several minutes.
